Tryst Site Updates: Changes to Available Now

. 2 min read

The Available Now feature in the Tryst.link Dashboard is a useful way to let clients know that you're accepting work. By turning on Available Now, not only can clients see you’re available on your thumbnail, but you’re given a little boost in search results.

That initial boost hangs around for about an hour, then slowly decreases over the next three hours until the Available Now feature turns itself off. We programmed it this way to ensure that the feature was useful, fair for all, and provided a strong signal to potential clients about what they could expect. We know there's nothing more frustrating for you, than a frustrated potential client.

  • Lite profiles can boost their profile once every 24 hours, timed from when the boost was last started.
  • Paid profiles have unlimited usage of the feature, allowing them to enable and disable it as many times in a day as they please.

Unfortunately, a handful of providers with paid profiles have been gaming this system, in some cases by using tools to automate turning the Available Now feature on and off many times per day, regardless of their real availability. Effectively placing their profile higher in search results and avoiding the gradual drop-off.

Not only is using an automated tool against our Terms of Service, but this kind of heavy use disadvantages those using the Available Now feature as intended and discourages potential clients. That in turn lowers the quantity and quality of clients using Tryst.link and increases the likelihood of less than ideal first-time enquiries.

To improve the quality of the Available Now signal, we are changing how many times a paid profile can turn on Available Now in a day. Instead of unlimited activations, paid profiles will be limited to turning on Available Now once every 4 hours. This will begin rolling out on the 9th of June 2025.

The Tryst.link Knowledge Base has more information about the Available Now feature, as well as details on how we rank profiles in searches made by clients. If you want to share your thoughts about this change, you can email me at chris@tryst.link.
