Thanks for joining us for our sex worker interview series 'A Tryst With...' Today we're joined by Seattle Escort Talia Dahlia to chat about being your own boss, boundaries, and making out!
What’s your story? How did you get started as an escort and how’s it going?
I am a relative newbie to escorting, starting late 2022/early 2023. After working hard in my professional and personal relationships, I made the decision to become an escort, as a way of choosing myself—choosing my autonomy and overall well being: emotionally, mentally, physically, and whole heartedly.
I was very fortunate to have connections with established sex workers who were able to offer their extensive knowledge. I am so lucky and thankful for their guidance always.
Sex work is going well and is not my primary source of income. I am able to have a level of discretion regarding clients that I am again grateful for. I want to make sure that who I am spending time with that we are a good fit for one another.

Can you tell us some benefits and drawbacks of the sex industry?
One benefit of being in the sex industry is that you are your own boss, and make executive decisions without considering another person’s expectations and opinions. The freedom of being your own boss is unrivaled. Also, being around the energy of other sex workers. I love other sex workers and the “Imma do me” attitude.
Drawbacks of the sex industry outside of the common misconceptions, legality, and risk of bodily harm is how decentralized the industry is for both sex workers and clients. We all want to be heard and have a good time but because of the gray area sex work occupies in the US, everyone is anxious.

What are three things you would have loved to have known going into the industry?
- Like I said in my prior answer I wish I knew how decentralized the industry is and how navigating the logistics is a nightmare.
- I wish I knew how important social media, X or twitter, whatever you call her these days, was. I have never used twitter in my personal life, and until recently I didn’t use social media for about 2-2.5 years. Even being a millennial the learning curve was there after being inactive for so long.
- Marketing and cultivating my persona. I am 2 years into my escorting career and I am still tweaking and cultivating who Talia Dahlia is.

What has sex work taught you about yourself?
Sex work has taught me boundaries and patience. I have to practice boundaries and screen accordingly, for my safety. I need to know what I am comfortable with, what I am not comfortable with, and be able to communicate that to my dates. I may be okay with an aspect of sex work today but the next day I can get the ick.
What’s an aspect of being a sex worker that you really love?
I take pleasure in spending time with my clients. I want everyone to feel special and lusted after. Everyone and every BODY deserves intimacy and pleasure. I like being able to fulfill that need as Talia. There is no ambiguity as Talia because we agreed to a time, duration, and location—because of course you completed my booking form and sent your screening method without any fuss. Parting ways is clear and boundaries are crucial for me being the best Talia.

What kind of clients seek you out? What do you find they are looking for?
Clients that seek me out want someone who is sweet, soft, sensual, and enthusiastic. Surprisingly I get a lot of newbies and first timers, folks who grew up catholic, and late bloomers (I didn’t have my first kiss until I was 23).
I try to be genuine and really convey the message of “what you see is what you get.” I am who my civvie self is in session. I am really bad at faking it and if I am having a bad time you will know.

What is your ideal date or session?
My ideal date is someone who has good hygiene, is kind, enthusiastic, timely, and likes to make out. For meeting someone initially I prefer a 90 minute date, I feel like 90 mins is enough time to get to know one another without being rushed.
What has sex work taught about beauty standards?
Sex work has taught me that yes there are common beauty standards (being thin, white, and conventionally attractive), but also everyone is beautiful and there is desire for all bodies and personalities.
Is there a game, book, blog, tv show, or movie that has had a major impact on your life?
Prior I would say Harry Potter or the Sandman series, but due to the actions of their creators, not so much anymore. I love One Piece and am still fervently waiting for a client who is as obsessed with One Piece as me. One Piece is like amalgamation of multiple genres and is about being a good friend and standing up for what you believe in. I have the same birthday as Zoro. So if you are thinking of booking me and you are a One Piece fan, please do not hesitate. I would love to yap with you.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work? What do you get up to on your days off?
I basically have fun all the time—I like going to live music, shows, musicals, plays, stand-up comedy, opera, ballet, cooking with family and friends, berry picking, taking my dog out on a walk, museums, reading, going to small pop ups, going to the spa, getting my nails done, road trips to Mount Baker, road trips in general, hot springs, traveling, reading, listening to video essays on youtube, podcasts, learning, going out to restaurants, going to the gym, pilates, trying new things, and supporting small businesses. I like living life slow or fast paced with the people and creatures I care about.

If you want to buy me a drink, you could order a: A shot of tequila or a paloma.
I’m weirdly attracted to: empathetic, kind weirdos.
My favourite album is: Kaleidoscope Dream by Miguel.
The way for a client to win me over is: having good hygiene, being kind, loves laughing, a good kisser, enamored with me, and maybe a lil sweet treat…
My favorite everyday pleasure is: having running water, heating, electricity, wifi, and being housed.
