A Tryst With Philadelphia Dom Sir Anansi

Thanks for joining us for the latest instalment of our sex worker interview series, 'A Tryst With...' We are joined today by Philadelphia Dom Sir Anansi to talk leather, change, and chamomile!

How did you get into the industry and what does your journey look like so far?

I started my journey into sex work in 2019. I was renowned for my strap skills and for getting men to do just exactly as I pleased. As an artist I was developing more into my craft of visual art. I began filming with colleagues and then solo, creating porn by custom request and then using my natural power plus well-studied skillset to dip my toe into Pro-dom work. During this time I was expanding as an artist and a person in terms of pleasure, and sex work found me waiting with open arms.

What has sex work taught you about yourself?

Sex work teaches me about my depths, my edges, my expansiveness, and my creativity. I’ve learned so much about staying firm in my boundaries and trusting my gut. It continually teaches me about value and to trust in the messiness of the process.

What is something clients can do to make you feel more comfortable as a trans worker?

As a trans sex worker, the industry is not exactly built for me. I’ve been lucky to have clients who make me feel even more seen. If you’re looking to book a trans provider, like myself, my advice is to:

- Ask or respect the pronouns you see them using for themself.

- Put your money toward surgeries and crowdfunds.

- Donating to organizations like Project SAFE in Philly and GLITS in NYC who provide resources directly to trans sex workers.

- Use what you learn in sessions in your everyday life. Don’t compartmentalize the information you learn.

How does your trans identity intersect with your work as a pro Dom?

Being a non-binary trans masculine Dom, my gender is so expansive. “God is change” as Octavia Butler puts it. Transformation is ugly and it feels like I’m constantly changing, dying, and being reborn, and I welcome it. My work allows me to explore various parts of my trans identity, whether on-screen or in sessions.

Can you share a little about your experience of being a Black trans sex worker? What's it like for you at those intersections?

For me it’s a beautiful experience to be able to embrace myself in all of my multitudes in my work. I think it can be difficult, mentally & spiritually, to combat the anti-trans & anti-Black narratives that much of this current world is committed to uplifting. As Audre Lorde put it in the 1970s, being “Black in the mouth of a dragon which defines [us] as nothing.”

People will try to deny you humanity. You carry this amazing power and know how to use it, but people will diminish you and devalue your work. You’re also under a much bigger microscope than your non-Black peers, with desirability playing a role in that too.

People want to fuck Black trans people, but they don’t value it. For me, I think as a trans masculine person I have it easier than many of my Black trans sisters. They really have to fight tooth and nail to be viewed as human. But part of the work is taking that fetish and flipping it, sometimes playing up certain fetishes.

Also I do want to say to any other Black trans sex worker: don’t be ashamed of your rates and what you have to do to survive. If they not paying your bills, then don’t let them stress you.

You call yourself a ‘plant translator and alchemist’. Can you share a little about this?

I’ve always been in touch with the land. My longest standing relationship is with the land. She’s my best friend and in the love I have for them, I am committed to understanding the land. I’m committed to learning and sharing the knowledge they share with me which is where the “translator” piece comes in.

I always use this story of chamomile to describe what I mean. I did a tea meditation where I held a warm cup of chamomile tea. I asked as I held the mug, heating my hands, to help me to understand what I could learn from them. I took a sip, slowly. I sat with the sip and felt it go all the way down to my belly. It held me and rocked me and I felt its sweetness. It felt like kinship. Chamomile showed me that even in harsh times, sweetness can be present, and that kinship can be a guiding light to that.

In a session, slow gentle strokes of chamomile brushed onto the face as someone is completely mummified in bondage gives the same effect. Or being buried under warm, wet soil, slowly taking in each breath. Or maybe you’re a well behaved little worm, drinking in the juices that flow from Me.

Instead of people, we’re changed and become a part of something much larger than ourselves.

How do you bring your own personality and personal style to your kink work?

Anyone who knows me in real life knows how much I feel everything deeply, and how goofy I am lol. As much as I love to press my heel onto someone’s balls, I’m also going to do it with a smile on my face and probably even crack a joke at the same time. Or maybe, like once before, I’ll repetitively beat some ass to the beat of I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston, while forcing them to sing at the same time lol.

We only have one life to live and one thing I’m gonna do is laugh through it all. Kink should be playful, serious, and full of sweat, piss, and tears.

What’s a fetish you love to explore with clients? Do you have any fetishes yourself?

I love when clients want to explore leather fetish, eco-sensual play, or their masculinity with me. My biggest and first fetish was leather. The way it looks, the way it feels, how alive it is, and how fucking sexy I feel (and look) while wearing it. I love a boot slut who can’t get enough of the pressure of me on top of them. Someone who adores leather as much as I do is hard to come by and getting to share that love with someone is so sacred.

I also love turning men out!! I love gender-play with clients and forced-bi scenes because if you’re into me then you have to be a lil gay right? I love teasing along with torture. It is my dream to host one of those men-only retreats!

Outside of leather and plant play, I have a huge foot fetish and hair fetish. I love a big bush or a hairy armpit.

Do you have a pre or post session routine?

Pre - listening to Bbymutha and taking selfies.

Post - a blunt, Ethiopian food, and a Moscow mule.

What’s the proudest moment of your career?

Thusfar I think being apart of the San Francisco Porn Film Festival, my artist lounge talk with BLX alternative, and having my first queer client – all this year!!

What do you get up to when you’re not working? Do you have any hobbies or special interests?

I have a lot of hobbies that are usually craft-based but usually I’m laid up with my dog (non-human), spending time outdoors in my garden, watching a horror movie with my chosen fam, or taking a workshop.

Is there a book, blog, tv show, or movie that has had a major impact on your life?

OMG yes!! People closer to me know I loveee horror movies and used to have a vampire movie list. I think that vampires always have some queer elements, so they’re interesting to watch.

Ganja & Hess – Just *chef kiss* they truly don’t make ‘em like this anymore. The blood on his ass in that one scene!!

Doctor Sleep!! - There’s multiple cannibal-like creatures in this and I really appreciate how they portray fear in this film.

Mean Mommy Pod

Audre Lorde’s The Erotic as Power which is technically an essay, not a book.

I get a big thrill out of: Showing people how to properly care for their leather, the face a sub makes when true fear strikes them for the first time with me, their face turning from fear to bliss, taking peoples fisting virginities, and finding a new horror movie to watch.

My ultimate bucket list dream adventure is: going to space, visiting all the waterfalls I can in Tennessee, and going on an international food tour.

I feel most sexy when: I’m wearing my velvet green durag, my Black knee high leather boots, and my leather garters by @everything444 leather.

My last meal would be: (I think about this a lot) homemade fried catfish, cornbread, fries, hush puppies, lavender chamomile tea cake, rose soda, root beer, a Moscow mule, and a big ass chocolate brownie.

My favourite fetish brand/designer is: I’m rooting for everybody Black, meaning @everything444 leather, @kolbybriane leather, and @allurebound.
