Welcome back to our sex worker interview series 'A Tryst With...' In this instalment we chat with New York Escort Trixxie Morella about creating music, being "hecka freaky", and "top-tier goon fuel"!
We’d love to know a little of your backstory - how did you get here and what do you do?
I was born in a small town in Louisiana, and raised in a nomadic lifestyle across several states in cities in the deep south and northeast. I've been a creative and a visionary for as long as I can remember being conscious, always dressing in outside of the box fashions and breaking the status quo. In school I had a special focus on art, athletics – namely track and field and cross country – and performing arts. After a year of college at an art school and a year of therapy, I began my career in porn/being an adult public personality. I reflected, journaled, and spoke with my therapist and close friends for about six months before booking my first shoot. I put months of thought into my stage name and overall brand. I made my debut in porn a few months before my 19th birthday, admittedly to capitalize on the crowd that likes that genre, but also to solidify and publicly showcase my stance that people in the sex work industry are iconic humans who deserve respect. I was entering adulthood and building a career. I aim to destigmatize sex and sex work through my artistic being. I'm an entertainer at heart and I do that through all my modes of art including sex work.
Artistic expression is an important part of your identity. Can you tell us about your practice and your ethos?
Expressing myself through art is how I exist. It's just as essential as my morning poop. I lift a finger and there's creation. Who I am and what I believe is all expressed through my various forms of art. In practice, I do my best to be respectful of people around me and their stories. I'm learning as I'm going. I advocate for myself, for the hoes, for Black women and girls, and for Black queer youth in interpersonal relationships, and public and online life. I aim to be a leader in my communities to the best of my abilities and capacity.
How does your art intersect with your sex work?
I write a lot of music about sex work. On camera I style my fashions and makeup in a way that expresses myself in that moment. In private the moment is the fantasy of the client, I love to put on a show for my hoez. My sex work and art intersect because I am an artist hoe. They go hand in hand as part of who I am.

Has sex work influenced your sexuality or the way you view sexuality in general?
It has solidified my view that the constructs of virginity, purity, body counts, etc… are all limiting and dangerous. Sex to me is a fun, pleasurable activity between two consenting adults. I think it's okay to not have sex with other people, or to have sex with lots of people, or anywhere in between that. I love that sexuality is fluid and personal. Over the years being in the sex work industry I've learned lots of things about my sexuality, like being an anal-only lesbian hoe, but I wouldn't say that that's influenced by sex work. It's just who I am right now as a sexual human being.
Is there anything you think people should learn from sex workers?
I think people should learn to respectfully listen to sex workers' stories. Everyone's experiences are valuable, and there's always something to learn. Though I wouldn't put the expectations on sex workers to be teachers, because we're already existing in a world that has historically stigmatized our existence.
What is your favorite part of sex work culture? What communities, people, places, and memories are important to you as a sex worker?
I love the online sex work community and being able to connect with hoes all around the world. It's taken me very far. I've gotten through real-life crises with the help of hoe friends I've made on the Internet through sex worker support, content, and engagement group chats. Meeting other pornstars and creating sexy fun scenes together is always a blast. I feel safest to be my authentic self around other sex workers, particularly porn stars. We're all so different and accepting of each other. We all advocate for safety and consent. The one thing we share in common is being hecka freaky.

What do you think Sex Work will look like in 10 years time?
I can only hope that sex workers get more access to private networks and Internet safety resources, so that we can navigate our work with minimal government or pimpin interference. I hope we have space to create more community amongst each other to promote safety, authentic expression, and getting money. We are living in a very unpredictable post-capitalist society, so the best I can do is hope, and do my part to keep getting better.
Can you share a little about what it’s like being a gay Black sex worker? What's it like for you at those intersections?
It can be very interesting. I see myself being fetishized and undervalued at the same time, which can be annoying and a bit disheartening. I'm grateful for my friends and peers who respect me, collaborate with me, hold spaces for me, etc… I love being Black. I love being a lesbian. I love being a sex worker.
Have you found connection and safety in LGBTQI and BIPOC specific sex working spaces?
I have! My Black queer sex worker friends are the best. We keep each other safe and getting paid.
How do you navigate making porn or your own content that feels true to you while also being marketable?
This has been difficult for me. So far I express myself on camera with my makeup and outfits. I always wear green no matter what – it just makes me feel amazing. But, sometimes when I'm hired for more mainstream heteronormative shoots, I have to tone down my whimsy. I don't mind it, it's just like being in costume, which is fun. I still have aspirations on making Black trans/GNC (gender non-conforming) eccentric roleplay kinky porn. It's all in the making. It's a vision that I'm excited to see come to fruition.

What’s your process for shooting porn? What kinds of styles do you like to shoot in, and how does that fit your aesthetic?
My process starts with a dress up or roleplay idea. And from there I set up my scene, put my outfit and makeup together, and grab my camera (or camera person). I love wide angle and close up shots, with vibrant colors. I like for there to be bright colors on set and in the wardrobe, and I often turn up the saturation to exaggerate the colors. I love for things to look shiny, slimy, and slippery. I like to make porn that makes me look supah edible. Porn that will create die hard fans. I love making porn that is shocking and will make the consumer want more. I create a visual experience that's aesthetically pleasing and top tier goon fuel at the same time.
When you aren’t working or creating, what do you like to do?
My guilty pleasure is actually “trashy” reality TV shows. I watch weekly and keep up with the blogs and all that. Keeping up with pop culture has always been a pastime of mine.
For me, the best part of sex is: Having an agreed moment to be touching bodies with another person is overall awesome – I love the stimulation and that there are so many erogenous body parts to play with in so many different ways.
My favorite color is: Green and purple equally.
Something that really annoys me is: Clients messaging without a tip first- yawn.
In the future, I plan to: I plan to be renowned for my work.
My favourite album is: I know I can always do a fire photoshoot if “Broke With Expensive Taste” by Azealia Banks is playing.
