It's time for another instalment in our sex worker interview series 'A Tryst With...' We're joined by Fort Worth Dominatrix Empress Arys to chat about beautiful catalysts and luxury glamour!
What looks different now than it did at the beginning of your journey?
After serving in the Army, I started out as a dancer/sugarbaby in Dallas when the strip club vibe was at its peak. What a time to be alive it was! Now I am more relaxed in my practices and I am able to curate my own work environment and accept submissive clients at my own discretion with a much higher return.

What has sex work taught you about yourself?
Sex work in general has given me the ability to walk in my own divine, feminine truth. Where I used to second guess my individuality and the very essence of what makes me who I am, I have grown to honor my attributes and my movements with the utmost love and intention. I realized that my assertive nature and the ability to manifest the life I want is what dreams are made of. The power of the mind is a beautiful catalyst in conjunction to my thirst for knowledge and creative aura. My worth is exponential. I have a visionary gift that has given me the ability to achieve whatever my heart desires.

Where do you draw inspiration from in your BDSM practice?
I have invested so much into my craft. From BDSM literature, to student training with other successful femdommes and goddesses of color, kink events, vision boards, in-person classes, and many long nights of internet research. I am always looking for new ideas to expand into my repertoire. I can find inspiration in absolutely anything.

What kinds of clients approach you for sessions, and what are they seeking?
The universe has sent me clients of all shapes, sizes, creeds, kinks, and fetishes. Some come to me for disciplinary accountability, servitude, chastity, findom, and goddess worship. My clientele are very well-rounded in variety, which I appreciate because each encounter provides growth for not just me, but my submissives as well. Above all, I can attest that all of my clients come looking for a safe, consensual space to practice their kinky fantasies without fear of a non-consensual abuse of the power dynamic.

How do you bring your own personality and personal style to your kink work?
Aside from the luxury glamour and fashion show, I pride myself on being self aware and disciplined. Let’s not forget how much I love to be worshipped. My practices exude that with every interaction. Sessions where I can show my clients how to be the best versions of themselves while in strict submission are my favorite. I wear many hats, a chameleon if you will. I am able to shape-shift to fit any occasion, and coupled with authenticity, my aura brings captivating thrill to the acts themselves.
What’s a fetish you love to explore with clients? Do you have any fetishes yourself?
Ooouu, I can't name just one! My top three are Chastity/Key holding, Impact/Corporal or OTK (over-the-knee), and humiliation of all sorts.

Aftercare is such an important part of a session, and of BDSM as a whole. How do you approach aftercare and what does it bring to your sessions?
As a professional dominatrix who has a love for my craft, I understand that submissive individuals are indeed human beings, and I make it a priority to provide time after the acts of engagement for a proper come down. Communication about how they felt about the session, both positive and negative, is very important in learning about my subs. Everyone is different and there is no one size fits all approach. Amenities like beverages, snacks, candy, a shower, or even a warm blanket to wrap up and ground oneself in, can do wonders to bring one back to reality before they set off back into the world again.
Tell us about your workspace. How do you set up your playspace for maximum fun and enjoyment?
I provide my own private dungeon space with all the goodies and toys that your imagination can arouse. Prior to my client's arrival, I will make readily available items that pertain to the interests expressed in the submissive application my client fills out at the start of our initial communication.

What have your experiences of the kink scene in general been like? Is there anything that needs to change, to make kink spaces more supportive/welcoming/safer for professional BDSM practitioners and for BIPOC people?
I have met some very interesting individuals, from one end of the spectrum to the other. I wish it were easier for us people of color to be more accepted in kink spaces and events. We simply are not always welcomed and are even targeted for exclusion by our non person of color counterparts. This is an age old tale and not at all anything new. Here in north Texas the pickings are slim indeed as far as safe, public play spaces to begin with. Where certain people of non color are invited to host parties, events or classes, us people of color have not been so much, especially if they aren't grandfathered in through bloodline or family trees of “old southern money”, so to speak.
With the strict laws on all sex work and red state conservative perspective here in Texas, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Soon I will be launching my own digital space where I can provide that security for those who want to learn how to build their brand in the kink and fetish industry but aren’t sure where to start. I will teach all I have learned on my journey to anyone looking for a community that is non-judgemental and love-centered. I myself am part of a community like that now and it has completely transformed my brand in ways I never imagined.
What’s the proudest moment of your career?
Quite recently I was tributed by a silent sender that I’d never even met before. Driving down the highway when I received a cash tribute of over $4300 from a single finsub, in the snap of a finger. This was followed by an introductory message and a booking request from my website. That type of exhilaration is addicting.

How do you like to relax and unwind after a long week in the dungeon?
I can never go wrong with a good spiritual cleansing goddess bath. There is nothing better than unwinding in a carefully constructed bath, full of my favorite flowers, milks, herbs and oils to release and unwind. A trip to the nail salon or my hairstylist to keep me feeling and looking my best is a must. Also, I frequent different spa and facial establishments in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Barnes and Noble bookstore is one of my most prominent hideaways. Sure, ordering books online is good for a quick impulse buy, but I have a thing for how a bookstore smells. What can I say, it’s the nerd in me. I won’t hesitate to curl up with a good cup of tea and a sushi roll, and binge watch anime for hours while editing content or engaging on my social media. Self-care and self-manifestation will always be my go-to.
My favourite piece of dungeon equipment/implement is: My black and red leather bull-whip.
We'll get along if: The energy is on a high vibration.
My favorite scent is: Burberry Her.
My favourite album to session to is: I am a musical connoisseur. You never know what I'll choose.
A social cause I care about is: The self empowerment of people of color and the ability of people of color to understand who we are and that we are deserving of everything good in this world. We deserve to be loved, we deserve to be accepted. We deserve to be seen and heard. And above all else we deserve to be respected.
