Hello and welcome back to our provider interview series 'A Tryst With...' We're so happy to have you! Today we're catching up with Brooklyn Escort Fae Laveau.
We’d love to know a little of your backstory - how did you get here and what do you do?
I entered the industry when I was 19 as a stripper. This may sound strange to anyone reading that isn’t in the industry themselves, but I knew from a pretty young age that I’d end up in the realm of “adult work.” For so many people it’s still so taboo and shameful so they can’t even wrap their heads around a statement like that, but for me, anytime I got a peek into that side of the world through movies, books, music, etc, I felt called to it. Using your body and beauty and charm as an avenue for making money just makes perfect sense to me.
I knew that starting in the industry as a stripper didn’t mean I would only ever be a stripper, it was kind of a way to dip my toes into SW in general. I fell in love with many aspects of stripping and I do miss it, but I didn’t feel free while stripping. I am clearly not a stereotypical conventionally beautiful woman by the average man’s standards. I’m beautiful, yes, but I am cognizant of the fact that I prefer to have body hair and tattoos and piercings and a naturally thick body type and that’s not what a lot of men walk into a strip club wanting to see (bless those of you that do). Trying to get hired in ‘gentleman’s clubs’ with my figure, ethnicity, piercings, and tattoos is like pulling teeth and I began to grow tired of feeling like I needed to reduce myself to fit into the tiny box of these club’s standards.
So that’s where homemade smut and escorting comes in. They’re forms of SW that operate more on the basis of “this is what I look like, this is who I am, THIS is the fantasy I provide,” and people can choose to support you based on that instead of, “let me make myself into the cookie cutter fantasy that men expect from me for the sake of making money.” And if that’s your hustle, I’m not knocking it, more power to you babe, I wish you ALL the money and prosperity. I tried that for the 4 years I was a stripper and it ultimately made me miserable because I am so far from the average man’s ideal fantasy. I entered into this work for me, myself, and I, so I go about it in the way that feels most fun and pleasurable for me.
You describe yourself as a ‘romantic pervert’. Can you tell us more about that?
Absolutely I can! There was a quote I saw back in my days of spending countless hours curating my soft porn Tumblr (lol) that said something like, “I’m perverted, but in a romantic way.” For the life of me I cannot find who originally said that, I want to say it was a femme author or filmmaker. I just scoured the internet trying to find it but all I found was ads for crappy customized t-shirts with that quote on them in the most heinous fonts.
I digress. That quote really resonated with me then and it is something I still hold close to my heart. In its essence, it means that I am such a lover; I want all the sweetness and beauty the world has to offer but for me that includes so much filth and depravity that most people don’t consider beautiful. Like, I want to cover you in my sweat and spit and break you down but in the sweetest, most delicious way possible. I think love and sex are so transformative and that doesn’t always look pretty or cute. The more perverse someone is willing to be with me, the more affection I will have for them. I can be the kindest, most nurturing lover you’ve ever had if that’s what you desire, but I much prefer someone that wants to get to the underbelly of desire, I want someone that will let me take them there.
What are three things you would have loved to have known going into the industry?
- Financial literacy and overall money knowledge!!! I really wish I knew how to section off and save money when I was starting out. I am still actively learning, honestly. I appreciate how many seasoned workers are out there now helping younger workers understand how to hustle intelligently, it’s so important. Building good credit, having an emergency fund, taking your taxes out, looking good on paper for the sake of rentals and loans… All of these things are hard for any person in their 20s but especially when you work an unconventional, heavily stigmatized job.
- That I can take breaks when I need to. I knew I needed to phase stripping and working in clubs out of my life because it was taking such a toll on my mental health. I was constantly comparing myself to the top earners at my club that all looked the same and nothing like me, not making as much money as I wanted to be, and falling back into self deprecating thoughts that I had worked so hard to overcome. I am fortunate to choose this work, to not be a survival worker, that is a privilege. Choice is a privilege and it’s one I’ve learned to utilize as I get older and the longer I am in this industry. If I don’t feel like doing it, I’m not doing it.
- Comparing yourself to others will fuck you up. That rings true for everyone, but in this industry it will really put you in a bad place. Building community in the industry is super important, so it’s nice to be on Twitter/IG but taking breaks from SW social media is wise. There are just so many incredibly hot, successful people in this industry and everyone only posts about the good things, so after a while it gets hard to not be like, “wow everyone is hotter and making more money than me.” Shift that focus and energy back to yourself, babe! They might have what you don’t but vice versa! We all have our uniqueness and there’s plenty of money and success and pleasure to go around.
What are some skills you’ve developed through your time as a sex worker? Do they have broader applications in the civvie world?
Clear communication and firm boundaries!!! Sex workers literally have to be good at setting boundaries and communicating well for the sake of our safety. Trying to have casual sex and relationships in the civvie world can become really difficult because you realize how many people avoid communication and respecting boundaries. The contrast is really wild, sometimes frightening.
Another would be community care and organizing, two things I’d like to get even better at. With this line of work still being so stigmatized by government and civvie folks, we really only do have each other when it comes to crisis, safety, and stability. Sex workers are without a doubt the most caring, considerate people I have ever met in my life, it’s a very sacred community to be part of, and I am eternally grateful for it.
You’ve mentioned being hairy - or ‘bohemian, if you prefer’. What has sex work taught you about beauty standards?
I love this question. A few of my prior answers tie in here. I think sex work has taught me a lot about beauty standards and they’re quite conflicting. On one hand there are aspects of sex work that uphold beauty standards that are in my opinion outdated. A lot of strip clubs, porn agencies, and clients will only hire workers that are thin, white and/or barely look 18. I don’t mean to yuck anyone’s yum, but I think there are too many beautiful and sexy people that don’t fall into any of those categories and denying them entry and access into your clubs and agencies is just further perpetuating the belief that thin, white, teenage girls are the standard for what is beautiful or arousing. That feels gross to me, sorry not sorry!

And then on the other side of that coin, sex work has also taught me that there is an audience, a fan, a customer for everybody. It’s not a level playing field, that’s for sure, but being able to find your supporters based on what you uniquely provide is a very special part of being a SWer. With or without clients or fans that are drawn to me for my body hair, tattoos, body shape, etc, I would still find myself beautiful, but it does feel very affirming and exciting for me to get a message from someone praising the things that I was fired or turned away from strip clubs for, or things that I still sometimes feel insecure about.
What is your favorite part of sex work culture? What communities, people, places, and memories are important to you as a sex worker? What’s an aspect of being a sex worker that you really love?
Hands down my favorite part of sex work culture is the friendship I have found within this community. I often say sex workers make the best friends and I do not mean that casually. Of course, not everyone in the industry is your friend. I’ve met plenty of ignorant, untrustworthy people in the 8 years I’ve been a sex worker. Sex workers are still human, you’re bound to meet some you don’t like or agree with. But the friendships I have made through sex work are so near and dear to my heart. I think we just have this sense of community and care and love for each other that a lot of people may never experience in their lives.
Sex work friendships are the real meaning of ride or dies! We have to stay connected to keep each other safe, happy, and healthy. The support I have received from fellow sex workers is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It’s also just so fun and hilarious to me that I can have these really hot and heavy intimate moments with a friend, whether it’s for the sake of filming a scene or sharing a delicious evening with a client, and not have anything feel awkward when those moments are over. We’re just homies hanging out! I love that, I think it’s so special and unique to sex work.
An aspect of being a sex worker that I really love is being a healer. I think this may be very often overlooked by people in the industry, but for me it’s one of the most important parts of this work. Clients and customers may not seek out sex workers intentionally for healing, but the time and space shared between us really is such a sacred thing. It kills me that most of the world doesn’t see it that way, because the moments I have shared with other workers and with clients feel like a safe haven, sometimes even a transformative space. Sex and sexuality are very powerful, healing things to work with. It’s not something I take lightly and I love getting to explore that with those that book with me.
Here’s a few of my favorite sex work memories in no particular order:
- Hanging out in strip club dressing rooms, hearing girls gossip and talk about their lives outside of work, cracking jokes while pulling on their Pleasers.
- Doing lap dances for older Black women who spent the majority of their lives hiding their queerness because they grew up in a different time where they had to deny that aspect of themselves. They started to safely explore it with sex workers and allowed me to be part of that journey. This has happened three times and I think of them often.
- Spending time in champagne rooms and hotel rooms, just talking to whoever I’m with and being pleasantly surprised by the level of emotional intimacy and vulnerability that can be shared by two people that are essentially strangers.
- Cackling with my friend while we Eiffel-towered her client with strap-ons.
- Listening to music and counting money in a friend’s car after a long, successful night.
Can you share a little about your experience of being both Black and Indigenous? What's it like for you at those intersections?
For me, being Black and Indigenous feels incredibly powerful and potent. Growing up, I wasn’t really sure of who I was, where I fit in, or who my community was. The world has changed a lot since then, I’ve grown a lot since then. I feel very sure of who I am and where I stand in the world without much regard for what others think of me or what box they would like to put me in. I feel very rich when it comes to my lineage, there’s a lot of magic, resilience, and beauty there. For me, it feels like a gift even though my ancestors were treated as disposable time and time again. I am here as proof, as a promise, that we cannot be erased.
Are there any BIPOC people whose online presence has been influential for you and who you’d like to give a shout-out to? (Fellow workers or otherwise.)
Oooh yes! Some of these people are friends or mutuals and some are just people I really admire and hope I can work with someday!
- Mistress Ashley Paige
- Nymph the Enchantress
- Avery Carter
- Dulce Fuego
- Venus Cuffs
- Mistress Koda V
- Jet Setting Jasmine
- King Noire
- Koi Erotica
- Schway Lex
- The London Vagabond
Have you found connection and safety in BIPOC specific sex working spaces?
To be perfectly honest, I am still searching for BIPOC specific sex working spaces, so if anyone can point me in the direction of any on the East Coast, I would kiss ya for it!
You’re a dominatrix in training, can you tell us about your journey with professional BDSM?
Yesssss! I’ve known since I started doing sex work that I ultimately wanted to become a professional dominatrix. It’s been a bit of a slow journey, just because the city I live in has a very small kink and BDSM community so I really only get to explore that space online or when I am in NYC or Philly for work and pleasure. Being a pro-domme isn’t really something you can just start calling yourself and expect everyone to believe it. There is a lot more education and experience that earning that title requires and I take that very seriously. I am very lucky to have friends like Mistrix Sunmi and Miss Koda V that have spent time talking to me and giving me advice on how to become a pro-domme. I personally would like more hands-on experience and education before considering myself a professional dominatrix. That means buying toys and tools, paying for courses led by pro-dommes, and also sessions with pro-dommes to learn from the perspective of a submissive. I love research, especially when it comes to worshiping hot women and femmes. I’d love to find clients that want to invest in my journey to becoming a pro-domme.
You're also a musician and visual artist! We’d love to hear more about your artistic practice and creative expression!
I am! I mostly keep those parts of my work separate from sex work, but I do use my photography and cinematography skills to document other sex workers and create work for them to use for their online platforms and advertising. I also use those skills and knowledge to create images and videos for my Onlyfans that feel a bit more artistic and curated. I actually have become very bored with making Onlyfans content because I’d like to have the space, time, and budget to create very elaborate, beautiful scenes as opposed to just quick, phone based content. Hopefully that can happen soon!
A few of my clients and fans know me through my music and that’s always pretty sweet to have them be interested and invested in that aspect of my life. Having clients that contribute to me being able to buy instruments and pay for production and studio time is so hot and endearing to me!!! I am a singer, guitar player, and I dabble in banjo and synth playing as well. I am hoping to buy an electric bass soon and start teaching myself how to play it, if anyone reading this wants to spoil me. I put out my debut album in 2019 and I am gearing up to release new music soon. It’s very exciting, I hope to do that full time someday, but will probably always do sex work in addition to that because it inspires a lot of my music and visual art.
If you’d like to sample my work as a musician, I wrote and released a porn scene and song with King Noire called “FMTY”, an anthem for our fellow heathens and heauxs. That was a really special collaborative process. We literally wrote the song while filming our porn scene in 2020 and recorded it over the next couple years (Covid really delayed this process.) The full scene is available on my Onlyfans and the song is available to listen to on all streaming services.
Your tattoos are wonderful, do you have a particular favourite?
Thank you so much! It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think my Basquiat tattoo on my right arm is a crowd favorite. Basquiat is one of my favorite artists of all time, I feel a certain kinship to him as a fellow Haitian American that grew up in NYC. My tattoo artist had that piece in his sketchbook. I was like, “dude I need this,” and he did a truly incredible job. It’s made me realize that people are either obsessed with Basquiat or have no idea who he is.
I want to be covered in tattoos! One of my favorite things to hear from a client is, “who are some of your favorite artists? I’d like to send you a gift certificate from them.” SWOON!
Do you play music during your work? What are your top 4 playlists, artists, or albums for setting the mood during sessions?
I like to play music during my sessions for sure! Some clients prefer to have the TV on or silence, but I definitely would rather someone let me take control of the music and set the mood. I love curating playlists for my time with my lovers, but I I like to keep those private, maybe I’ll start sharing them soon. My top 4 artists that I enjoy playing during sessions are Shygirl, Deftones, Hiatus Kaiyote and Khruangbin. They’re all very different moods, I like a lot of different music, but they’re all sexy in their own ways and make me horny lol.
In the future, I plan to: be traveling the world playing music and doing SW.
My favorite food is: impossible to choose! I’m a foodie! But it’s soup season right now, so I’ll say ramen.
My most irrational fear is: statues, lol, specifically really big ones. I recently learned that I have megalophobia.
My favorite piece of BDSM equipment/fetish gear is: I’ve been learning how to use needles on people and recently saw an electro-needle demonstration, so that might be my new favorite.
My greatest turn-on is: being worshiped.
