We’re Improving Verification!
As laws that regulate the internet and sex work continue to change faster than anyone can keep up with, Tryst.link's obligations change too. In practice, this means providers that have been on Tryst.link for a while will soon need to update their verification with us, in order to meet changing requirements from governments and payment processors.
Due to the strict requirements of various regulations around the world, it is becoming increasingly difficult to do this task well. In some regions, it is even being considered a conflict of interest to handle the entire verification process in-house. As a result we have spent months investigating a range of third parties to work with to assist us in meeting our legal obligations globally, balanced with your needs as sex workers. We will always do our utmost to ensure that whoever we team up with prioritises good privacy and data practices, particularly when it comes to respecting sex work, sex workers, and your privacy.
With this in mind, we are overhauling the way we verify providers, both those joining the platform for the first time and those who have been here a minute. This includes increasing the resourcing of our dedicated expert team within Tryst.link to handle verification more efficiently, improved communication around what to expect when going through the process, and increased support for providers when issues with verification do arise. We’ve dramatically improved onboarding waiting times lately, as can be publicly viewed on tryststatus.link. If you’re someone who joined the platform recently, you have likely already experienced the benefits of this expanded team!
This new process will launch in the near future as we finalise the process updates. Providers that have joined Tryst.link in the last few years will, in most cases, not need to update their verification. However if you are someone that needs to, you will be given as much notice as possible, with clear step-by-step instructions as well as access to our dedicated team to guide you through it. I want this process to feel as straightforward and anxiety-free as possible and if we fall short of that commitment, I encourage you to let me know directly: chris@tryst.link.
Nobody likes having to wade through tedious bureaucracy just to do their job, but it is a fact of life for adult platforms and something we have to work with in order to remain online, and remaining online is one of Tryst.link's highest priorities. We can’t fulfil our mission, to support sex workers, if we disappear from the internet, y’know?
Are you a sex worker with a story, opinion, news, or tips to share? We'd love to hear from you!
We started the tryst.link sex worker blog to help amplify those who aren't handed the mic and bring attention to the issues ya'll care about the most. Got a tale to tell? 👇☂️✨
