Tryst Site Updates: We’re implementing your feedback
Can you believe it’s July already? Here in Australia we’re in the middle of cold, grey winter days so let’s get onto something warmer, aye? The latest updates on what's happening on Tryst.link!
We’re implementing your feedback
We just finished up a recent provider survey that saw you share some truly excellent information and really insightful thoughts about what you value about Tryst.link. We want to build a place not just for you, but with you, so your feedback is pure gold for us - we literally can't make Tryst.link better without it!
We were even able to implement some of your feedback into action in one of our latest site updates. Y’all brought to our attention that the 100 character minimum message length for the first message a client sends was: too long, annoying too many of your clients, without having the intended improvement in first contact quality. That small but valuable feedback informed our decision to change the opening message to a minimum of 50 characters instead. It might not sound like much, but lots of little improvements like this make a big difference over time.
I also wanted to call out the excellent bug report another provider shared this month. They clearly described the issue (profiles still appearing in location searches after the tour listed in that location had ended), and even included videos showing the issue in action. Thanks to this, we were more easily able to identify the cause and fix it. Another bug we squashed was making tours timezone-aware. This means the end of a “tour day” will now be based on the timezone of the tour location, not the default UTC timezone. No more tours ending mid-afternoon!
Updates to our sign up process
The past month has seen a significant update to Tryst.link’s sign up process - both the pages you see when joining Tryst.link as well as the work we do to review your submissions. This process has led to a 6-day reduction in the average time it takes to get a profile live, since we started this project. We are confident that this wait time can be made even shorter soon. We’ll keep you in the loop, and update you on that progress as soon as we can!
Publishing your profile
Last month I mentioned that we fixed part of our workflow around profiles going from unpublished to published after the support team worked on your account. We’ve improved that workflow even further by adding a reminder to the notification email to publish your profile, if your current settings will leave it hidden.
Available Now statistics
When we announced changes to the Available Now settings back in May to address misuse of the feature, some providers expressed concern that it could impact their opportunities to attract clients.
The above chart is the amount of clients contacting providers via Tryst.link. The purple line is the amount of clicks on mobile, email and Whatsapp links. The blue line is all other contact link clicks. The red line is when the Available Now changes were introduced.
After over a month in production, with a bunch of testing and monitoring, we’ve confirmed that overall, the volume of enquiry attempts has remained steady, with individual profiles seeing changes in both directions.
I know that sucks when you are on the receiving end of change, but know that we are continuing to stay across it, and are always keen to hear your feedback!
Tryst.link AMA
Lastly, some of you may know we’re doing our first ever AMA on r/sexworkers! Exciting! It will take place at the following times around the world:
- Australian Eastern: July 22nd 9AM–1PM
- USA Pacific: July 21st 4PM–8PM
- USA Eastern: July 21st 7PM–11PM
- London: July 22nd 12AM–4AM
- New Zealand: July 22nd 11AM–3PM
Add it to your calendar so you don't forget to come say hi, as myself, along with a few other members of the Tryst.link crew, will be participating.
If you can't make the Reddit AMA, as always, please email me via chris@tryst.link - I can't respond to every email I get, but I will absolutely read them all and pass on any feedback to the relevant folks. We really appreciate the time and energy y’all put into providing us with feedback, and are so keen to keep building Tryst.link with you <3
Are you a sex worker with a story, opinion, news, or tips to share? We'd love to hear from you!
In our publication, we love to see a multitude of voices from all kinds of workers, from across all kinds of backgrounds - especially those who might not otherwise be heard. Stories change minds, and in a world where sex work is largely stigmatised and/or criminalised, your stories matter. As an organisation by and for sex workers, we value the experiences and stories of you, the workers.
Are you a sex worker who’d like to write for us? We’d love to hear from you! Send your pitches here!
