Tryst.link Site Update: Photos, Sign Up and Available Now
It’s been a busy time at Tryst.link as we deal with new age assurance laws in multiple countries and their impacts on our platform. Some of you may have noticed some images on the site blurred and even had some of your own blurred as a result of these changes. I've gone into more detail about it in its own blog post if you want to learn more: Nudity, New Online Laws, and Tryst.link.
Features and updates
While we've been hard at work dealing with these new laws, we also found time to make a bunch of improvements to the platform:
Letting providers know which of their photos contain nudity
This is important due to the new restrictions in France, Germany and the UK that prevent us from showing nude images (and yes, that does unfortunately include nipples :eyeroll:) without checking the age of every single visitor to Tryst.link. By informing providers which images will be blurred, it gives them the information they need to decide what series of photos is best for their profile presentation.
Clearer information about how long until you can re-activate Available Now
In your feedback and in our recent Reddit AMA, you let us know how unclear it was when and how often a provider can activate Available Now. Based on that feedback, we now show the amount of time until the provider can reactivate the boost and the remaining boost time separately.
Revamp of the signup process to make it easier for new providers to get started
This included laying the steps out clearly to reduce confusion over what Tryst.link is asking for, clearer examples of the information we need, a vastly improved mobile/touch friendly interface, and simplifying the copy used on all pages. As a result, we've seen the rate of signup completion increase by over 25%.
We also made a series of small improvements thanks to your feedback, including making sure that your rates are displayed on your profile in the same order they are shown while editing, simplifying some of our emails, improving how our landing pages render, and squishing some bugs you let us know about!
Why doesn’t Tryst.link have an app?
A common question we get is "where's the Tryst app for iPhone or Android?". There's apps for everything so it makes sense people expect a Tryst.link app, but due to the prudes at Apple and Google all apps remotely related to sex are not allowed on their app stores. We could make a Tryst.link app, but there's no way for us to get it to you easily, so instead we focus our efforts on making the mobile website the best we can. You can even add it to your home screen to act more like an app if you prefer!
For more detail on why Tryst.link doesn't have an app, check out this blog post I wrote a few weeks ago.
It’s time to start sunsetting our least used feature
Did you know Tryst.link provides providers on our premium memberships with a subdomain for their profile? It means a provider’s profile can be accessed via https://providername.tryst.link instead of https://tryst.link/escort/providername. You didn't know? Neither did anyone else! Less than a tenth of a single percent (less than 0.01%) of profile views per day come via one of these links, making it the least used feature on the whole platform by a substantial margin. Many years ago, we thought it could be a cool feature but in practice a subdomain doesn't really make a difference for providers, but does significantly increase complexity for our infrastructure team. We will begin deprecating the subdomain feature soon so that our team can focus on improving the core of Tryst.link and working on other requested features. We will inform those impacted well ahead of time, ensuring you have time to make any required changes.
If you are one of the handful of people using your profile subdomain, we recommend changing to a standard profile URL. The Tryst.link knowledge base has instructions on where to find that information.
As always, send me your thoughts and about these changes or any other aspect of how you use Tryst.link! Fire up your email client and send a message to chris@tryst.link - I can't respond to every message but I will absolutely read them all.
