*but with a twist
in exchange for
dead presidents

you lose sight of
what it feels like
to take up space
in your body

yet you remain nutrient rich
deep below those layers
of supple flesh
waiting to be extracted
like a crab in the sand
you need a skilled hand
one that holds
compassion and care
as they extract those
meaty parts of you
