A Tryst with Calgary Escort Seraphine Scarlett-Rose

Hello lovelies! Welcome back to A Tryst With, our worker interview series. Today we've been chatting with the stunning Calgary Escort, Stripper and Streamer about town Seraphine Scarlett-Rose!

Tell us your story, how did you get into the industry and what has your journey looked like thus far?

As of this interview (Oct 2022), I have been in the world of escorting for only about 10 months, but I’m not new to sex work. Fun fact: I’ve been in the sex work industry since I was 18 years old! I started off as a Nude Seller on Discord (A popular gaming and chatting platform), live-streaming on Twitch and NSFW stream sites (Plexstorm before it’s unfortunate demise, but now streaming on Joystick.tv!), and also being an Onlyfans Influencer, but after COVID, I found myself getting burnt out online and wanted a change in atmosphere.

I had always fantasized about being an in-person provider, but I always struggled with my self image and was reserved from becoming a FSSW due to the fact that I felt “too fat”. Being online, I had full control of my image, and could retune a flaw if I didn’t like it in the blink of an eye. In person, there was no edit button, I was constantly consumed with body dysmorphia and I kept making excuses to not take a leap of faith.

After a sudden change in said faith, and a newfound desire to stop giving a fuck about what others thought about me, I began stripping in Toronto in October 2021! It went well for a couple months, but was fired by the club owner on a dayshift for being "too thick" (Yup, I know). After having a few outcall experiences from after the clubs, and dabbling in extras, I decided to dive head first (no pun intended) into the world of FSSW, in an effort to say “fuck you” to those who doubted I could be successful in the industry. At the end of 2021, I moved to Calgary and worked at an erotic massage parlor for a short spell of time to build my reputation alongside doing my own independent work via incall or outcall, and it’s been one of the most rewarding jobs in my life. I love to interact with all kinds of gentlemen from different walks of life and broaden my mindset on life and I am only looking to go up from here with my plans to build myself a business and graduate with my Bachelors!
However, I do plan to take a much needed hiatus for December 2022, and take a much needed vacation as well. I’ve earned it!

What's one change you would like to see happen within the sex work industry?

I think one huge change I’d like to see happen within the sex work industry is the amount of whorephobia that goes on within it’s own walls. For example, you have some providers out there who brand themselves as “high-end, upscale and luxury”, and there’s nothing wrong with that. The problem begins when they gain this sort of elitist mindset and begin to think that they’re “on-top” of other providers in the industry or in their area because they charge more per hour, and start to make snarky comments shaming other sex workers for having lower rates.

Not everyone has the privilege of being able to have their rates hiked so high when they start FSSW, as many people join this profession as a means of survival, and I speak from personal experience. Some girls will have to do what they NEED to do to be able to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table for another day, whether it be for just themselves, or for their family. I think a lot of girls who shun others should really sit back and take that into consideration. Be grateful that they are able to do what they do comfortably, rather than shame those who can’t gain access to the same luxuries, such as being able to charge a deposit, or have a fancy incall space separate from your home etc. Some workers in this industry are more privileged than others, yes, but that doesn’t excuse the shaming.

Another thing I see is also the gate-keeping of safety screening methods with newer sex workers in the industry. We are already at a risk for people to take advantage of us, and the resources we have amongst one another is sometimes our only line of defense  against  creeps who want to hurt people. While yes, these screening methods shouldn’t be shared with just anyone because it can compromise their integrity, you should be willing to help a fellow SWer, because even the most basic screening information you share with them could one day save their life.

Have you experienced whorephobia? How?

I’ve been at the receiving end of harassment & bullying from other providers in the industry, as well as whorephobia in real life & online with family and friends. With my roots in sex work being in online content, I was used to marketing a different way than most “high end luxury” providers classified as socially acceptable. I frequently had things like “You’re giving away things for free” or “It’s not classy to show your pussy on the timeline” said to me because in their minds, it’s not okay.

What these workers fail to realize is that there is more than one way to market, and shaming others based on their marketing tactics is hurtful, especially when a lot of these providers with a smaller following look up to workers with huge followings for some sort of guidance indirectly. We are already ostracized in the civilian world enough, so surely we as hoes can band together and lift one another up, right?

Canada operates under Bill C-36, the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act, otherwise known as the Nordic model or equality model in other countries. How has this impacted your work and what are some ways you feel this law has failed sex workers and those who seek services from a provider?

I cannot say that I am not grateful for Bill C-36, because I am in a way. It has allowed service providers to operate in a somewhat more safe manner, as our work becomes decriminalized, but the clients still remain criminalized, and our work still remains highly stigmatized and dangerous.

I personally haven’t been in the industry that long to say that I have had prominent impacts of this bill on my work, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t impacted the lives and livelihoods of those who’ve been in this industry before me, and for longer. I am incredibly grateful for those that came before me to break down barriers to make our work more safe, destigmatized and recognized.

It baffles me that something so common as pleasure is so restricted, especially when all parties involved are participating in legal activities, are of legal age, and all play is safe, sane and consensual. Everyone has the right to bodily autonomy, and that includes being able to monetize a part of their body without fear of prosecution of the government, or fear of being arrested for seeking someone to fulfil desires that can’t be fulfilled in their personal lives.

Have you faced any difficulties or tensions with your family while you’ve been a sex worker?

Yes, I have. A little bit of backstory: I have an older sister, and unfortunately she was subjected to sex trafficking at the age of 13, and I had front row seats to seeing all of this unfold.

Because of this, my mom took every effort possible to try and steer me away from this industry, to avoid a repeat of history, as she was severely traumatized from my sister going missing and being trafficked across the country. Well, as we all know, trying to hide these things from a naturally curious and adventurous mind will usually push them to seek them  anyway.

I’ve always been pretty open with my mom with regards to things related to sex, as she’s always been open to discuss these things to ensure I’m educated about them rather than ignoring it and possibly having me learn a very hard lesson. However, after starting stripping and eventually full service sex work, I felt it was necessary to eventually tell her. Primarily my reason was to avoid being outed by someone else and having to deal with the negative backlash from it, but my perspective shifted to wanting to take responsibility to properly educate her on the industry, and how I do my part to keep myself and my clients safe. I love my mom deeply, and the last thing I want is her worrying about me, but we can’t stop our parents from worrying about their children. Since coming out to her, she’s been more receptive about hearing about my work, but it’s still an iffy topic for her. I hope to one day change her mind.

What is your favorite part of sex work culture?

Getting to interact on Twitter with so many other wonderful men, women, and gender non-conforming individuals who also participate in the same line of work as I do has definitely been one of my favourite highlights of sex work culture. It’s the fact that you have never met the majority of these people online, yet they are a shoulder to lean on, offer financial support in times of need, and so much more.

We are already shunned from society as it is, and it’s hard for us as sex workers to find a common area where we can gather without risk of our accounts being terminated or censored, or blocked from communicating with clients or other workers.  Being online (albeit chronically) has made me feel less alone in this community than ever, and it’s time to stop kicking us off the internet!

What is one thing you think clients can do to ensure a smooth booking process with an escort?

SLOW DOWN & READ! So many of you jump the gun when it comes to seeing our ads online, and that can lead to disappointment on both ends. We as providers get extremely annoyed that you’ve reached out to us without reading our ads, which contain the answers to questions you will have for us, and you as a client are potentially confused and/or pissed off that an escort just verbally eviscerated you for not following basic instructions that were there, had you taken the time to slowly read and comprehend her advertisements.

Another thing a lot of clients complain about is being scammed by another provider who requires a deposit. A lot of men will simply see the pictures on an ad, and will completely disregard all logic when it comes to verifying if this individual is a reputable person who isn’t going to be stealing their money in a blink of an eye. Had those people read the ad, seen that she didn’t have any credibility towards who she is, or that her images are real, they probably wouldn’t have been scammed.

Just read their ad. Does she have a website linked? Read that too! Read every single bit of information she has made available to you possible. Does she have social media? READ IT! There’s probably something on there you could need to book too! In reality, we should be able to book you within 2-4 messages, not 50+ messages of you nitpicking for answers that have been typed out and made available with such ease of access on many platforms!

What are some of your favorite video games?

Such a loaded question! I’d have to say some of my current go-to games right now on my PC would be Paladins, Groove Coaster, Osu!, Muse Dash, and Cluedo! I also play a slew of rhythm games on my Nintendo Switch (Taiko no Tatsujin and Project DIVA: Mega Mix, to name a couple!)

But if we are talking about retro consoles and their video games, I have always been the biggest fan of the Super Mario franchise for the NES and GameBoy Advance, and know a lot of Easter eggs & secrets in the games! I can’t wait to visit Universal Studios in Japan to see the new Super Mario World attraction and possibly do a closet cosplay of Princess Peach, and I'm currently saving up for a trip!

You’re a 420 provider. What are some of your favorite activities to do while you’re high?

It really depends! I’ll usually be hanging out with my friends on Discord while I’m high, as we all usually smoke, talk and game together. A lot of people think stoners are lazy, undriven people, but that has to do more with character than a plant. Some of my other favorite activities to partake in while in an “elevated state of mind” would be painting, doing chores, or taking a walk. I’ll also smoke if I have any work that requires me to focus, as it tends to help slow down my thoughts enough for me to concentrate on what I’m doing.

Oh, and I also like to have sex, duh.

My ideal date would consist of a chill night in, some ordered in food and gaming, obviously followed by debaucherous activities.

The dorkiest thing about me is probably the fact that I’m a huge nerd, and I’m very open about it! I’ll talk your ear off about gaming any chance I get!

If you want to buy me a drink, you could order anything that doesn’t taste strongly of alcohol! My go-to drink is a Double Pornstar, as a drink, not the shot!

My favorite scent is Aesop Hwyl. It smells like sex!

The most exciting thing I have ever done is move to Taiwan for 6 months after graduating high school to be immersed in my culture.I feel the most sexy when I have my makeup done all up and I’m in the town with my friends on a Friday night!
