A Tryst With Philadelphia Dominatrix Honey De Vil

We're back with our sex worker interview series, "A Tryst With..." Today we're joined by Philadelphia Dominatrix Honey De Vil.

Can you tell us your ‘origin’ story as a sex worker?

In 2018, Karley Sciortino was making episodes about sex workers and sex in a segment called Slutever on Vice. I saw one episode in which she interacted with a dominatrix and I was left in wonder. No one knows how to get into sex work when they are young, I just knew that what I saw on the screen resonated with me, not to say that tv was the driving force to my decisions, but it made me aware that it was possible. I followed Karley on Instagram, and one day she posted with Mistress Colette about her Mistress class. I wanted to go for years but never got the chance.

In 2020, I found out about 7 Days of Domination by Mistresses Shayla and Lola, they held baby domme boot camps which I wanted to go to for years but again didn’t have the opportunity.

In March of 2023 I attended a workshop hosted by Empress Wu about sexual disgust. I got to see a live pissing demo and that completely blew my mind. At this point, I thought that my dreams were closer to being a reality than ever, “this isn’t a screen, this is real life.” After the workshop I actively pursued experiences and education that put me on the path to becoming a professional dominatrix. That meant hopping on Fetlife and going straight to the events page.

I was vacationing with my mom in August 2023 and I asked my psychic if sex work was my true path. She said that if I didn’t pursue sex work as a dominatrix, that I would regret it for the rest of my life and that scared me. She also told me to go to the baby domme bootcamp by any means necessary, but most importantly that I needed to register that night. By this time, the baby domme boot camp was starting in September and there were extremely limited seats. That night I asked my mom to help me and she agreed – there was only one seat left when I went to register. I wouldn’t be here without these many small, yet significant moments.

Is there something you didn't expect going into the industry?

I did not expect this wonderful community. Everyone I have met is so nice and open to helping. In the spaces I’ve been in, there is no feeling of gatekeeping or competition. Everyone has an abundance mindset. Even now, knowing this, I still brace myself for rejection when it comes to contacting others in the industry but I am proven wrong each time.

For a while, I was aware that Gallery R held parties where the community congregated. I wanted to join in but was not confident enough to reach out to Lady Rouge. At the time, I felt that I lacked experience and presence. After attending a medical fetish intensive at Gallery R, seeing the space in a learning environment put me at ease and again brought back that feeling of “this is real”. Soon after I built up the courage to reach out to Lady Rouge to inquire about attending the events. I was nervous, and didn’t even think I would get a response but low and behold, she invited me to shadow a session and the rest is history.

What do you feel are the impacts of whorephobia, both for yourself and the community?

I experienced this recently when speaking to a family member. They didn’t consider me a sex worker because I do not do full service, and that I was somehow more acceptable because of it. I know that if I was doing FSS my family would have many more reservations, worries, non-supportive/problematic comments and behaviors. To others, I still have a veil of respectability.

People's thoughts about FSS prompts them to lack respect, empathy and human decency. This whorephobia leads to lack of support, protection, proper health maintenance and mutual aid. This means that sex workers are subjected to receiving discriminatory care in healthcare and law enforcement settings, doxxed, put in uncomfortable situations by friends/family, and more.

People tend to want to separate full service sex work from all other forms of work. Even if someone sold feet pictures ONCE, that is still sex work.  It must be acknowledged that many people have participated in sex work or know someone who has. Stigma attached to sex work makes it difficult for those who no longer participate, to even mention their experiences and/or seek help to heal from those experiences. This stigma sticks most to full service sex workers, while those that may have sold a picture once or twice may even brag about getting “easy money”.

What’s something people should probably consider before they take the leap into becoming a Pro Domme?

If you have a fear of rejection, you’re gonna have to get over it in this field. In this profession, you will ask for help, collaborate, and even pay other sex workers for their knowledge. Community is so important and if you’re too scared to reach out then you will have a weak point/be vulnerable.

Were there any folks in the industry you found helpful or interesting to follow on social media when you first started?

Oh heck yes, @thebitchempress_ for gross inspiration, @venuscuffs and @lady_rouge_love for their business savvy-ness, and @Dia__Dynasty for their spiritual/shamanatrix practice

You’re a BDSM practitioner who offers breastfeeding as a service - can you tell us a little about this kind of kink work?

For me, this kink is more so geared towards breast feeding denial. As a mother I have to give myself freely everyday, but having that power to say otherwise in a scene is very liberating. Though, it can also be a very caring and nurturing scene where I am not denying the client. For the client, they may feel extremely intoxicated by the thought of drinking my milk or even consider it an elixir of some sorts that transforms them into maybe a sissy, my puppet, or anything they or I want them to be.

How important is the idea of transgression in your exploration of kink?

I think that it wouldn’t be fun if there were no transgressions. Though, I love to go further and push the envelope when appropriate.

There are people who truly want to be transgressed upon – Are we to deny them this ritual because we are afraid to confront emotions, thoughts or ideas that are uncomfortable?

What does your workspace look like? How is it set up? Do you have a favourite piece of furniture or equipment?

If we are talking about a dungeon, my workspace is sizeable. I work out of Gallery R in Philadelphia, have you heard of it? It has multiple themed rooms that can cater to a myriad of desires and fantasies. Upon entering it is reminiscent of a speakeasy. One of my favorite rooms is the medical fetish room.

My favorite piece of furniture is the bareback bench, it’s incredibly compromising and keeps things easy to access.

A lot of sex workers are known to be perpetually online, can you share one of your favourite clips/websites/memes/meme accounts?

@themallieshow on Instagram has an off-putting taxidermy fox puppet and they make the funniest videos. Maybe it won’t be funny to some people but it definitely reached its target audience with me.

What’s your favorite way to relax and recharge after a long week?

Day 1 of relaxing: Cleaning my home is very relaxing to me, also going to my favorite cafe and staying there for hours just to taste the revolving drinks menu.

Day 2 of relaxing: Going to a spa, specifically Soho spa club, to enjoy the amenities and feel like my daily woes are non-existent.

My ultimate weakness is: leather and fur coats.
My favorite lingerie brand is: I have two – Playful Promises and Anoeses.
My favorite piece of trivia is: About platypi – the Females don't have nipples, but glands which secrete milk onto the fur.
The most romantic thing someone can say to me is: “I booked a trip for us, I took care of everything, just pack your bags.”
For me, the best part of sex is: Watching ‘em squirm when I talk dirty.
My social handles are: @thehoneydevil everywhere.
